How the Referral Program Works

1. Invite friends
From your dashboard, send friends a personal invitation — add their name and a short note if you like.
2. They get $20 off
Your friend gets $20 off their first subscription — applied automatically at checkout when they sign up through your invite.
3. You get rewarded
When they subscribe: if you're not yet subscribed, you earn $20 Referral Credit toward your own subscription. If you're already subscribed, you unlock 1 bonus essay or STEM test per friend who subscribes.
Frequently Asked Questions
- Is there a limit to how many friends I can invite?
- You can send up to 10 invitations in a batch, and you can send more afterward — there's no cap on your total earned Referral Credit or bonus unlocks.
- What happens to my $20 Referral Credit if I already have a subscription?
- If you're already subscribed when your friend converts, you earn a bonus-content unlock instead of Referral Credit — see step 3 above. Referral Credit is only issued to referrers who aren't yet subscribed, since it applies toward a subscription you're about to buy.
- Can I use my Referral Credit for anything besides my own subscription?
- No — Referral Credit is non-cashable and applies only toward your own STEM Critical Thinking subscription (in full or in part).
- Do I have to tell my friend I'm sending them an email?
- Yes — when you send an invitation, you'll confirm that your friend already knows an email is coming. Each friend only ever receives one invitation email from us, with no follow-ups or reminders.
- What email address should I use for my friend?
- Their personal email (Gmail, Outlook, etc.) rather than a school email — school filters sometimes block our messages.
